We would like to thank you for visiting our website. Here at the Big Apple Film Festival we have one purpose, which is to celebrate the artistic talents, hard work and persistence that goes into the making of an independent film. We would also like to take a moment to thank you for choosing filmmaking as a venue for expressing your creative energy. Without you, the world would be deprived of the beauty and importance of the visual art form. Just as you have given your all to the world of filmmaking, we would like to give back to you by celebrating your enormous and groundbreaking accomplishments. Below we have listed the benefits for submitting your film to the Big Apple Film Festival:

1. An opportunity for a New York City screening in a 250 seat theater at the Anthology Film Archives, which is an institution that has been a member of the independent film community for 34 years, opening its doors in 1970:

Anthology Film Archives cooperates with archives and museums in the United States and abroad in the preparation of avant-garde film collections and special exhibitions. It has established comprehensive collections of American avant-garde film at the Beaubourg Museum in Paris, the Moderna Museet in Stockholm, and the Oesterreichisches Filmmuseum in Vienna. It has cooperated in preparation of surveys of the American avant-garde film in Canada, Switzerland, Italy, and other countries. It has been working closely with the National Gallery in Washington, D.C. in the preparation of special shows and catalogs.  

The Anthology presents avant-garde, documentary and narrative film surveys, selected by leading film scholars, filmmakers and curators, as well as:

            The Big Apple Film Festival will present cash awards to three filmmakers for outstanding achievement.

3. Free publicity

The Big Apple Film Festival will treat each and every film as our top priority. We will publicize your film in and around the New York City area and send out press releases to all major New York City publications, which will include information on your film.

 Publications that will be receiving press releases include: The New York Times, Daily News, Time out New York, New York Post and the Village Voice.

4. Pre-screening and Post screening receptions

Receptions will be held at the festival, which will include free drinks and refreshments to all filmmakers and audience members.

5. V.I.P. passes

All filmmakers whose films are screening at the festival will receive a free V.I.P pass to ALL the films screening throughout the festival weekend. Filmmakers will have complete, unlimited access to each and every screening presented at the festival.

6. Networking parties

  An opportunity to network with other filmmakers, producers, writers, agents, distributors, etc. And of course, an opportunity to celebrate your fine accomplishments right here in the Big Apple!
